2-Part Telematics
Providing consumer services and applications for your mobile phone
In 1995 Cellport Engineered and Introduced the 1st Generation Universal Hands Free System and in 1998 the 2nd Generation Plug & Play Telematics was architected and Hands Free Connectivity, the industry's first universal hands-free, platform was created:
CPC 3000 "Driving Uninterrupted"
CP 3000 connected multiple makes and models of wireless handsets with one standard vehicle interface for convenient hands-free use for voice calls and other Telematics applications. The architecture integrated a wireless handset's voice, data and entertainment capabilities with a vehicle's resources, providing convenient hands-free operation. The system included a speaker, microphone, voice-activated dialing, external antenna, charger for the phone, and muting function for the stereo during a call. Cellport went public with the design in January of 2001, and it was a highlight of consumer technology allowing customers to keep their hands on the wheel and their eyes on the road. "Driving Uninterrupted" gave CP 3000 recognition in the car phone consumer world and represented over $600 million in profitable product sales.
"Cellport 3000 was a safer, smarter solution for integrating wireless phones and mobile Internet into cars, and it provided a much better value for consumers by being universal. The average consumer keeps his vehicle 5-7 years, but the average wireless phone user changes her phone every 12-18 months. It solved the problems of fleets, corporate vehicles, auto manufacturers and wireless carriers who had been looking for a way to cost-effectively accommodate multiple people with different phone models in the same vehicle with one hands-free solution." - Pat Kennedy, CEO
